I love pit bulls. They are a beautiful, majestic, powerful breed that unfortunately have the reputation for being aggressive. While their jaws are tremendously powerful, proper dog training can ensure that they are just as safe as any other breed of dog. It is a common misconception that breeds are inherently vicious, when, in truth, it is a dog’s training that determines their temperament.

With pit bulls, it is important that you let them know right away that you are the alpha in their pack. They are fiercely loyal and once you determine the relationship, they will stick by you no matter what. Then it is simply a matter of continuing their training to make sure that they are not going to display any aggression. Unfortunately, many people still have an undue fear of pit bulls, so even though mine are very well disciplined, I sill keep them leased so as not to cause a panic.
